600 sign up for housing green deal
MORE than 600 people have signed up to a take advantage of a scheme to make their houses greener.
Nottingham City Council's Greener Housing domestic energy efficiency programme was launched last month.
The aim is to install external wall insulation on up to 4,000 privately owned homes and 1,200 social housing properties in Clifton. To date, 639 homes are signed up for an assessment.
Alan Clark, Portfolio Holder for Energy and Sustainability at Nottingham City Council, said: "We all want cosy and warm homes in the winter and Greener HousiNG will save substantial amounts from people's energy bills.
The energy saving measures are being offered to private home owners at a greatly reduced cost.
"It is a deal that will not be bettered by any other supplier."
The City Council is working with Nottingham City Homes to manage the project. The Nottingham Energy Partnership is delivering Green Deal Assessments to the private households and Volkerlaser is carrying out the works.
