Speaking at: London Roadshow - Islington - 6 December 2013Peter Rickaby is Director of Rickaby Thompson Associates. He studied architecture at Cambridge University, and holds a doctorate in energy studies from the Open University. Before founding Rickaby Thompson Associates he worked in leading architectural practices in Britain and New Zealand, and as Assistant Director of the Centre for Configurational Studies at The Open University, where he researched energy-related aspects of urban and regional planning. From 1995 to 2012 he was an accredited National Home Energy Rating (NHER) Assessor, SAP Assessor and On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) and he received NHER Home Energy Rater of the Year Awards in 1995 and 2000. He is also an accredited Low Carbon Energy Assessor through CIBSE, and a BREEAM Accredited Professional. He has been a member of the Social Housing Group and the Council of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes, of the RIBA’s Sustainable Futures Committee, of the Zero Carbon Hub’s Energy Work Group and Carbon Compliance Standard Task Group, of DECC’s Green Deal Installer Accreditation and Quality Forum and of BSI’s PAS 2030 Steering Group (for the Publicly Available Specification for the Green Deal). Peter was co-author of the Construction Products Association’s guide An Introduction to Low Carbon Housing Refurbishment and of the National Housing Federation’s guide Managing the Assets, and Managing Editor and co-author of the Institute for Sustainability’s acclaimed Low Carbon Domestic Retrofit Guides. He is active in training building and housing professionals in all aspects of low carbon design and refurbishment, presenting lectures, seminars, workshops and courses throughout the UK.
